Change the "Stroke Color" to black and the "Fill Color" to the color you want your character's skin to be. Use the "Eraser Tool" to remove the top line of the oval, just keep erasing until it's up to your specifications. As always, make use of the "Selection Tool" to correct any flaws or errors you find.
