I am the new one
Despite Oscar buzz, audiences heavily steered clear of Tim Burton's horror musical, Sweeney Todd. I, on the other hand, was excited to see it due to all the buzz and nominations its been getting. Besides, there isn't much else out there.
The first 20 minutes or so are exhausting to get by way of. Perhaps it was bizarre to see these actors belting out tunes or as a result of each time you overlook it was a musical, there's another track. But each time they began singing, it felt really inappropriate and awkward. Around the time little Toby (played by the cute Ed Sanders) will get on display for the first time, you feel somewhat higher as a result of he is simply so cute. This was additionally the first musical number that wasn't so moody and dark. Not that I didn't recognize the moody and the dark as a result of I did and if you see this film, count on a lot of that. It just took a bit of getting used to. You consider musicals as fun extravagant numbers with dancing and dazzle and all that jazz, but this film is far from that. The numbers usually are not particularly catchy or fun, however disturbing and twisted.
Try to read my other movie review https://www.zanestate.edu/wp-includes/list/i_could_love_you_if_you_d_let_me___movie_review_by_123movies_haus.html .
However, by the point Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter began singing and dancing about putting lifeless individuals into meat pies, I was bought.
The remainder of the movie is simply as delightfully darkish and comical. It was a fantastic story with a number of unexpected turns that had me pondering "I ought to have seen this coming." It was well written and well filmed, with an extraordinary forged. You have to applaud the leads, Depp and Carter, for taking the cinematic threat they did. Both of them are on my listing of best actors of all time and this film is among the the reason why. Another great casting was the all the time great, Alan Rickman, who seamlessly portrays the creepy, perverted Judge Turpin, that Depp's character is obsessive about killing. Fun truth for Harry Potter followers: his faithful sidekick Beadle in the film was played by Timothy Spall, who is the Wormtail to Rickman's Snape in the Harry Potter franchise. Spall is one guy that I would love to see cast in a likeable position. He's a good actor, however he performs the identical ratty little evil minion in each movie. But he was nice along with everyone else. Even Sacha Baron Cohen, who I hate with a fiery passion, was pleasant. And who knew Borat may sing?
The verdict: check it out. It certainly deserves all the excitement it's been getting. It has one thing for everybody, when you do not thoughts somewhat throat slitting right here and there. Do you assume it's mistaken that seeing it put me within the temper for a meat empanada? Whatever, it was scrumptious and at least there have been no lawyers or priests in mine.
